| ABOUT US

Tordown Granite is a small privately
owned granite business operating from Tordown Quarry in St Breward, in the
heart of the ancient Cornish granite country.
For centuries Tordown produced
Cornwall's finest silver-grey granite until the quarry finally shut its
gates in the early 1990's.
Now, once again the sound of granite
being worked rings out from Tordown Quarry as the waste of centuries past
is recycled and given a new use. All our granite is 100% pure Cornish, and
of the highest quality. Most of it is silver grey, although we do have
reserves of the honey brown granite, primarily used for repairs to older
properties
Whereas in the past our granite was
used in many famous projects, including construction of the Britannia
Naval College in Dartmouth, today it is more commonly used in the
landscaping of gardens and grounds.
Our 100% Cornish granite is used in a number
of ways, particularly the following:
- Standing stones
- Random walling stone
- Monoliths
- Rockery stone
- Feature stone
- Security boulders
We provide hedgers, wallers, landscape
gardeners, sculptors and designers with the raw materials for their
projects.

Please note that we do not cut,
split saw or drill stone.
The quarry is
not always open but can always be open by appointment so phone before you set out to visit
it. The number is 01208 850885.

As
part of our ongoing research we have included many keywords to try and
attract the attention of search engines including Google. These words and
phrases include Cornish granite, Celtic symbols, carved symbol stones,
walling granite, cut walling and random walling stone, quoins, setts and
lintels, monoliths, standing stones, hole stones, landscape and garden
memorials and monuments and silver grey granite. We
monitor site performance and adjust these as we think appropriate in order
to appear higher in the search engines. Sometimes it works, and sometimes
it does not. Please
note the appearance of these words does not mean tht we can supply all the
products in Cornish granite from our own quarry. Please
feel free to contact us with your thoughts and ideas on this subject at: enquiries@tordownquarry.com.
